Conure Bird Cage
When shopping for a conure bird cage its a good idea to buy the largest one you can afford. This will insure that you only have to buy one cage and you won't have to replace it because your conure has outgrown it. So finding out how big your type conure will be when he reaches adulthood will help determine how large his cage needs to be. Conures are absolutely beautiful, playful birds. They love attention and will be silly and clown around until they get it. There are various types of Conures, and they range from about eight and a half inches to twenty one inches. There are many different styles and shapes of cages. You can choose which cage will best fit into your home comfortably, but it is a good idea to buy the largest cage you can afford. That way you will have this cage throughout the life of the bird, and he will be more comfortable and happy. If you're worried about fitting a cage into your home, keep in mind that there are many different shapes and styles and even with a larger bird cage, you should be able to find something that will fit comfortably where you wish your cage to be.
Keep in mind that conures are more playful than some birds, and like to jump about and play. Picking a cage that will encourage his natural behavior is a good idea. Another thing to think about is how easy the cage will be for you to clean. You want a cage that gives you easy access to all parts so that you can keep your bird's environment clean and healthy. For this, you may consider a cage where the entire front folds down as well as a small door for normal interaction with your bird. The bars on the cage need to be no more than one half inch to five eighths of an inch wide. This will insure that your bird doesn't get stuck or caught in between the bars and injure himself.
Conures have messy eating habits. They sometimes like to dip their food in their water before they eat it, so you will need to be able to clean his water regularly, or think about getting him a water bottle. You could even try moving his water dish to the other side of his cage.
Because they are messy eaters, you will probably need to clean the bottom of his cage quite often, so a slide out tray that is easily accessible is an ideal thing. A cage made of stainless steel would be easy to disinfect so your bird doesn't get sick. It also won't chip or break if he bites on the bars. Remember that your bird needs to be able to stretch his wings out, so a cage with a width of one and a half times the wingspan of the bird is a good size.
It can sometimes be frustrating to choose a conure bird cage, but following his needs will make him happy and when your conure is happy, you will see why they are such a desired bird.
